This Privacy Policy describes how dab Media LLC ("KOmpare," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the KOmpare TCG mobile application, the websites at kopulls.com and komparetcg.com, and any related services (collectively, the "Service"). KOmpare is a point-of-sale application built for trading-card-show vendors, supporting price lookup, trade tracking, and shareable deal links.
When you create an account we collect basic identity information — typically your name and email address. Account creation and sign-in are handled by our authentication provider (see "Service Providers" below).
When you use the Service to look up cards, build trades, and record deals, we store the data you enter — the cards on each side of a trade, condition, quantities, prices you select or override, the show or event you tag, and the state of each trade (draft, completed, expired). You may also choose to record a customer’s name on a trade, and to enter a business name and a sales-tax rate and postal code for deal-link payments.
When you price a card, you can look up recent eBay sold listings. This opens eBay’s own website in a browser inside the app, so you are using eBay directly, under eBay’s privacy notice. eBay receives what it receives from any visitor: your search (the app fills in the card’s name, set, and number, which you can edit), your IP address, and its own cookies. We do not send eBay your KOmpare account, name, or email.
If you sign in to eBay there, that session stays in the in-app browser on your device until you sign out of eBay or remove the app. KOmpare never receives your eBay username, password, or account details. The only thing we take from the page is the single price you tap and confirm. We do not read or collect other listings, seller or buyer details, or your eBay browsing, and we do not scan eBay automatically.
That price is saved on the trade item, labeled as an eBay price, like any other price you select. It syncs with the trade and, if you share the trade, appears on its deal link. Prices captured this way are not included in the aggregated data described in Section 5.
We collect product-analytics events about how you use the Service — for example, which screens you visit, which features you use, when you complete a trade, and basic performance/diagnostic signals. These events are aggregated to help us understand product usage and improve the Service.
Analytics events are collected in the mobile app, on our website (including trade-offer "deal" pages opened from a shared link), and on our servers. When you are signed in, events are associated with your account ID so that we can understand usage across devices; when you are not signed in — for example, a customer viewing a deal link — events are anonymous. We design these events to carry identifiers and counts rather than content: they do not include your email address, your name or business name, or the text of your card searches. The private token in a deal link is masked before any analytics event is sent, and deal pages are excluded from session recording.
Our website uses cookies and browser local storage set by our analytics provider to tell one browser from another and to measure visits. We do not use them for advertising. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings; the website will continue to work. The mobile app does not use cookies, but stores a randomly generated analytics identifier on your device, which is reset when you sign out.
KOmpare Pro is purchased in the app through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google processes the payment; we never receive your card details. We receive the store’s purchase record — a purchase token or transaction ID, the product, and its status, renewal, and expiry dates — and our servers verify it directly with Apple or Google before unlocking Pro, and keep it current from their notifications. If you subscribe on our website instead, Stripe processes the payment and we receive a customer reference and the subscription’s status, not your card number.
Vendors can let in-person customers pay a deal link by card. To do so, a vendor creates a Stripe connected account; Stripe collects the vendor’s identity, business, and bank details on its own pages, and we receive only the account’s ID and status (for example, whether payouts are enabled and what Stripe still needs).
When a customer pays a deal link, they enter their payment details on a checkout page hosted by Stripe. Stripe handles the customer’s card details; KOmpare never receives card numbers. We receive the payment’s status, amount, sales tax, platform fee, date, and Stripe reference numbers, so we can show the vendor the deal was paid. Any information Stripe collects from the customer is handled under Stripe’s privacy policy.
We automatically collect technical information about the device and connection you use to access the Service — for example, device model, operating system version, app version, IP address, language, time zone, and crash/diagnostic logs.
The app can identify a trading card by pointing your camera at it. That recognition runs on your phone, and the photo stays on your phone. The one exception: when you correct a match, we receive a small cropped image of just that card — not the rest of the photo, not the table, hands, or anything past the card’s edges — together with the card you chose.
Alongside the image we receive how the app ranked its guesses, the app and model versions, and your account ID (so we can honor deletion requests). We use these images to train, test, and improve card-recognition and other machine-learning models, on our own and with partners who help us build them, and we may keep them for that purpose after your account is closed. They are not used to identify you, and they are not shared publicly. You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Scanning → Send corrected scans; the scanner keeps working either way.
We rely on a small number of third-party service providers to operate the Service. Each is bound by its own privacy policy, linked below.
Sign-up, sign-in, and account session management are handled by Clerk. Clerk receives the information needed to authenticate you (such as your email and, when applicable, an authentication factor like a one-time code or social-login identifier). See Clerk's privacy policy.
We use PostHog to collect the product-usage and behavioral analytics events described above from the mobile app, our website, and our servers, along with error and crash diagnostics. On our public web pages PostHog may also record how you interact with the page, such as clicks and navigation. PostHog receives your IP address in the course of receiving these events. For events from our website, PostHog uses it to derive an approximate location (such as city and country). The mobile app tells PostHog not to do this, so we do not derive your location from app events. PostHog processes this data on our behalf, on servers in the United States, and does not use it to advertise to you. See PostHog's privacy policy.
Our website also uses Plausible to count visits in aggregate. Plausible does not use cookies and does not build a profile of individual visitors. See Plausible's privacy policy.
Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play) process KOmpare Pro purchases made in the app. Our servers exchange purchase records with them to verify and maintain your subscription. See Apple’s privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy.
Stripe processes web subscriptions to KOmpare Pro and the card payments customers make through vendors’ deal links (via Stripe Connect), and onboards vendors who accept those payments. Stripe collects payment-card and bank details on its own infrastructure; we receive tokenized references, statuses, and transaction amounts. See Stripe's privacy policy.
Card and sealed-product prices come from JustTCG, a market-data provider that supplies TCGplayer-derived pricing. We request prices for cards and products from JustTCG; we do not send it any information about you.
eBay is not one of our service providers and does not process data on our behalf. The eBay sold-price lookup described in Section 1 opens eBay’s website inside the app, and what eBay collects there is between you and eBay. See eBay’s privacy notice.
We share personal information (information that identifies you as an individual — for example, your name, email address, account ID, or device identifiers) only with the service providers named above, who process it on our behalf to deliver the Service, and as required by law (for example, in response to a valid legal request or to protect rights, safety, or property).
We do not sell your personal identifying information. Separately, however, we may use, analyze, license, share, and sell aggregated and de-identified data derived from the Service — for example, market-level pricing benchmarks, trade-volume statistics, and category-level trend data that does not identify any individual vendor or customer. See Section 5 for what that means and how we use it.
Trade data you enter into the Service is yours. When you share a trade-offer link with another person, that link exposes the contents of that specific offer (cards, totals, expiry) to whoever opens the link. Treat these links like any other private link.
KOmpare produces and uses aggregated and de-identified data derived from the Service. This is one of the ways we improve the Service and operate as a business, and we want to be explicit about it.
What "aggregated and de-identified" means. Aggregated data is data combined from many vendors, accounts, or trades so that it describes a group or a market rather than any one person — for example, "the median sale price for a given card during a given week." De-identified data is data from which direct identifiers (name, email, account ID, device identifiers, and similar) have been removed, and which is maintained and shared under measures designed to prevent it from being re-associated with a particular individual. Aggregated and de-identified data does not, on its own, reasonably identify any vendor, customer, or other person.
What we may do with it. We may use, analyze, license, share, and sell aggregated and de-identified data — including, but not limited to, card prices, condition mixes, sealed-product values, trade volumes, regional and event-level market trends, and feature-usage statistics — for any lawful purpose, including:
What is excluded. Prices you capture through the eBay sold-price lookup (Section 1) are not included in aggregated and de-identified data, for any of the purposes above. We use them only for your own trade and its deal link.
These rights are perpetual and survive termination of your account. We will not attempt to re-identify aggregated and de-identified data, and we will not knowingly share it in a way that we expect would allow a recipient to do so.
We retain account, trade, and pricing data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account (in the app under Profile → Account → Delete account, or by emailing us — see Delete your account):
Deleting your KOmpare account does not delete data that Stripe, Apple, or Google hold under your own agreements with them, and does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription. If you accept deal-link payments, your Stripe account is your own: it stays open until you close it from your Stripe dashboard.
We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information we process — including encryption in transit, restricted access to production systems, and use of established cloud and authentication providers. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to or stored by the Service.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, or delete your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise many of these rights directly in the app (for example, by editing your account or deleting your account); for anything you cannot do in the app, contact us using the details below and we will respond consistent with applicable law.
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under California law, including the right to know what personal information we collect about you, to request deletion of that information, and to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as those terms are defined under California law. We do not sell personal information that identifies you as defined under California law. Our use, licensing, and sale of aggregated and de-identified data, as described in Section 5, is outside the scope of that opt-out because such data does not, on its own, reasonably identify you. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
The KOmpare app is a business tool for vendors. As our Terms of Service require, you must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to create an account. The Service is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
The Service is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, when changes are material, take reasonable steps to notify you (for example, by an in-app notice or by email). Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
